Busy witches make their own snow: how to do magic when you don't have time for it

If you're a busy witch like me, you might occasionally feel some witch guilt when you didn't do anything for the latest sabbat, or the most recent full moon.

You might plan out magic for the day and hour of Jupiter, and then miss the hour because you got a last-minute meeting invite from your coworker.

As an astrologer, I used to do a lot of timed magic.

I believe in the power of timing. I would plan rituals or spells for specific days and planetary alignments.

I could do that because I worked for myself and made my own schedule, and I didn't have kids yet.

Fast forward to today: I have two under five. My hours for magic are limited.

I spend my days juggling client calls, school schedules, and toddler meltdowns. Scheduling magic for the perfect 3 am election is not my highest priority.

The two questions that matter right now are:

1) is the important stuff getting done?

2) how efficiently can I get it done so I can go to bed?

Guess what: it still works.

Timing magic certainly helps with the outcome, allowing for smoother communication with the spirit world when help is available.

But if you're busy, what matters most is Done. Not perfect.

When ski mountains don't have enough snow, they make snow.

And people come to ski and snowboard on the human-made stuff.

As a lifelong skiier, I can tell you that it's still fun to ski! Having a snow machine to cover the slope beats staying inside through the long winter days.

So as a busy witch, if you don't have time for magic on the perfect schedule--do it when you can.

Make your own snow by...

🧙 feeling the inspiration (your own divine timing) inside of you...

🧙 keeping it simple (really simple): like stirring it into your morning coffee, visualizing it in your head, snapping your fingers and affirming it is done...

🧙 creating the atmosphere that puts you in a magical headspace, with music, candles, or colors...

🧙 or declaring that you're so magical your magic overrides the timing. (Jupiter always takes your calls. Venus will answer at any time of day or night. The moon is ready to work with you in any phase.)
